Brooks & Dunn make connection with fans at Verizon

July 21st, 2008 · No Comments · Concert Reviews

Brooks & Dunn began Sunday night’s show with an upbeat mix of new songs off Cowboy Town and classic hits. On their eighth song, the country superstar duo slowed the concert down as they performed acoustically on barstools in the middle of an extended center stage. Brooks & Dunn connected with their fans, not just by location, but by talking to them before and after songs.

After a four-song set on the stools, the other members of the supporting band returned to the stage to return the up-tempo feel. During “Mama Don’t Get Dressed Up For Nothing,” Kix Brooks broke a guitar string jamming on his instrument.

Soldiers joined Brooks & Dunn onstage and red, white and blue streamers covered the lower pavilion crowd during the playing of “Only in America.” Also onstage was a member of the audience when the duo pulled a lucky fan to dance while performing “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” during the final song of the night.

Brooks & Dunn have had more than 40 singles on the country music charts, 20 of which have reached No. 1. While the duo didn’t have time to perform all of their No. 1 hits, they did play “Neon Moon,” “It’s Getting Better All the Time,” “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone,” “Red Dirt Road,” “Little Miss Honky Tonk,” “My Maria,” “Play Something Country” and “Brand New Man.”
